WW2 Pair French Deraisme Fabi Lonrop Roof-Prism Binoculars With Leather Case.
A World War 2 pair of roof-prism binoculars by French manufacturers Deraisme. The binocs are functional with all lenses intact. The view is clear enough with some light spotting. The focusing slide works as it should. Some wear to the metal and black leather surrounds (please see pics above). Original leather strap and fittings intact. The binocs are stamped "DERAISME FABI PARIS" and "LONROP" with "RPG" scratched below. Some additional markings, arrow etc. to the front. Comes with it's original fitted case but please note the lid is missing. The leather case strap is present and intact but has a tape repair.
Adolphe and Edouard Deraisme were making field glasses by the 1890's and prism binoculars by 1906. An advertisement from 1902 stated the firm specialized in instruments for military use, and many of its models had been adopted by the principal European armies. Deraisme binoculars were used during both World Wars and were well-known for their craftsmanship. They were paricularly popular with the French Navy.
