A sterling silver presentation medal with the obverse stating "THE ROYAL LIFESAVING SOCIETY COMPETITION MEDAL". The reverse is engraved "MEN'S CHPS, 1919, 1ST, G. WHITING, U.A.S.C.". It bears the hallmarks for Birmingham, 1919 and the maker's mark for Joseph Daffern & Co.
