Rare WW2 U.S. Army Officer's Swagger Stick Dagger.  Leather And Steel.

At first glance, this item appears to be a standard officer's swagger stick, measuring 55.5cm in its closed form and featuring a brown leather-wrapped exterior. However, it conceals a hidden surprise - a finely crafted needle dagger. When opened, the piece measures 53.5cm in total, with a 37cm steel needle blade. This item would have been utilised as a swagger stick which could double as a melee weapon.

The blade ricasso bears a "3" stamp.

Swagger sticks, while never officially issued by the U.S. military, were commonly adopted by officers (and some senior NCOs) especially after exposure to British military culture. Their use continued informally through the 1960's. Notably, General George S. Patton is also reported to have carried a blade-concealing swagger stick during World War II.

Condition Report:

Rated good overall. The leather exterior shows some slight wear with good patina. The blade remains in fine, untouched condition with light tarnishing in places. The dagger inserts and withdraws smoothly and is held firmly in the scabbard.
