Rare Boer War Queen Victoria and Generals Photo Frame.
This is a rare surviving souvenir from the Boer War in the form of an oval photograph frame, bearing a gold-plated metal insert with embossed Royal Arms, crossed flags with four vignette, the centre being a black and white photograph of Queen Victoria with her Commanders General Lord Roberts, Lord Kitchener and Lieutenant General Lord Methuen. Text around the edge reads "HAND IN HAND" and "FOR THE EMPIRE".
Very good condition, complete with suspension ring and colour remains vivid. From my research, this is probably one of only a handful of examples in existence. This is the only one I've seen in South Africa and there is reference to one that sold on the UK market.
