A single page satirical printing from "PUNCH , OR THE LONDON CHARIVARI". An original antique cutting from a disbound volume - not a reproduction or re-print. Dated OCTOBER 4, 1899. The image shows President Paul Kruger inspecting his troops with the title "A HITHERTO UNKNOWN MEISSONIER".

Below, it states "THE MORNING OF WARTELOUW (OR ITS SOUTH AFRICAN EQUIVELANT), 1900 (OR POSSIBLY SOONER)." OOM-POLEON REVIEWS HIS "OUDE-GAARD" BEFORE THE BATTLE.

Overall condition is very good. Mounted behind glass but not glued if one wishes to reframe. Paper may show some signs of age-toning and/or unrelated print on reverse.

Punch, or The London Charivari was a British weekly magazine of humour and satire established in 1841 by Henry Mayhew and wood-engraver Ebenezer Landells.
