Rare WWI 1915 Verner's Pattern Marching Compass By Short & Mason. Working.
A WW1 Verner's Pattern MKVII military marching compass dated 1915. Made by Short and Mason, London. It also bears the military broad arrow. Has the traditional mother of pearl dial for low light reading with the direction arrow intact. The brass lid has a strong hinge and a brass knob on the side for transit locking of dial. The compass also has a magnifying lens for precise angles calculation (for target engagement). The Verner's Pattern compass basic construction is a prismatic dry card compass with both a momentary bearing lock and transit lock. Stamped to the font : "VERNER'S PATTERN" and "MKVII". Stamped to the back : "SHORT & MASON LTD LONDON", "No 9225", "1915" and the military broad arrow. The overall condition is good and appears to be functional (The dial does turn and the lock works). Please note that I cannot vouch for it's accuracy.
