WW2 Australian Lithgow Pattern 1907 Bayonet With Scabbard (Re-Issued By SAP). Dated 1942.

A WW2 pattern 1907 bayonet by Australian manufacturer Lithgow for the Short Magazine Lee-Enfield rifle. The left ricasso is stamped "MA" (Mach Arms - manufactured at Lithgow), "1907 /1" (pattern acknowledgement) and "6 / '42" (manufacture date - June, 1942). The right ricasso is stamped with the military broad arrow, "X" (bend test stamp) and "MA" (manufacturer's stamp). To the pommel "SAP" (South African Police). The bayonet is in overall, good condition with much of the original parkerized finish (blueing) still present. Included is the double-stitched leather scabbard. The bayonet inserts and withdraws smoothly and is held firmly in the scabbard. The locking button is functional.

These bayonets were used during the Second World War and Korean War conflicts. A number of them were later re-issued by the South African Police.
