A rare and unusual antique walking stick with the shaft skillfully made with tapering shark vertebrae, carefully hand-arranged along a central rod. The Modernist silver top is by Hugo Bohm, a prominent German silversmith who established his business in Schwabisch Gmund, Germany in 1887. Bohm is particularly well-known for his Modernist designs. The top is stamped with the German "crescent and crown" silver stamp, "800" (silver purity) and the Hugo Bohm maker's stamp. These items were popular in European upper-class society to reflect wealth and status. The walking stick is in overall good antique condition (please see images above for more detail).
