Antique Ansonia Mantel Clock. 57 x 37cm.
An antique wooden mantel or shelf clock with intricate decorative details. The clock features a classic design with an ornately carved wooden frame, which includes symmetrical scrollwork and a peaked top. The clock face is round with a cream background, black Roman numerals, and black spade-style hands. The dial has the "Ansonia" logo and states "MANUFACTURED BY THE ANSONIA CLOCK CO. NEW YORK, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". The glass door protecting the clock face and pendulum is etched with an elegant design, featuring a bird perched on a branch with flowers and leaves. The bottom of the glass also has the name "ANSONIA" inscribed. This type of clock was popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The clock has it's original mechanism, pendulum and "Ansonia" key. Please note that the mechanism runs and stops so probably needs a service or repair. There is no chiming mechanism. It still has part of it's original Ansonia sticker to the back. A handsome piece. Please see images above for more detail.
