1919 3rd Anglo-Afghan War Silver George V General Service Medal. 026383 SJT S.J. Blake R.A.O.C. (Royal Army Ordinance Corps)

I have not polished the medal.  It is sold as found.

The India General Service Medal, awarded during King George V's reign (1909-1935), was presented for service in various campaigns and operations within the Indian subcontinent.

Obverse: King George V's crowned bust, inscription "GEORGIVS V KAISAR-I-HIND".

Reverse: Fortress at Jamrud (Khyber Pass), inscription "INDIA".

Ribbon: Green with a blue central stripe.

Bars: Specific campaigns were indicated by bars attached to the ribbon, such as "AFGHANISTAN N.W.F. 1919" or "WAZIRISTAN 1919-21".

Edge Inscription: Recipient's number, rank, name, and unit were often marked on the edge of the medal.

Campaigns: The medal was awarded for service in various campaigns, including the Third Anglo-Afghan War (1919), Waziristan operations, and other frontier campaigns.
