Obverse: King George V's crowned bust, inscription "GEORGIVS V KAISAR-I-HIND".
Reverse: Fortress at Jamrud (Khyber Pass), inscription "INDIA".
Ribbon: Green with a blue central stripe.
Bars: Specific campaigns were indicated by bars attached to the ribbon, such as "AFGHANISTAN N.W.F. 1919" or "WAZIRISTAN 1919-21".
Edge Inscription: Recipient's number, rank, name, and unit were often marked on the edge of the medal.
